People are generally aware nowadays that Egyptian cotton is considered the highest quality. And just as many people are aware that the higher the thread count, the higher the level of softness and overall quality that you’re receiving. That’s why 1000 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets are considered more luxurious than 250 thread count discount Egyptian cotton sheets. And as one would predict, the increase in quality brings with it an increase in price. You receive higher quality with these higher thread counts, so it’s logical that this price would increase as well.

But many people are finding that they’re shelling out the bigger bucks for the higher thread counts but only receiving the quality of a much lower thread count. This can be very disappointing for anyone anxiously awaiting a certain level of quality from their sheets. This is because many countries hold their manufacturers to different standards than the United States. Especially in countries such as China, India, and Egypt, it is common to use two or four-ply threads. This makes sheets advertised as 1000 thread count feel more like 500 or 250. Be aware of this before you purchase so you’re sure to get what you pay for.
