Brittney’s Wedding
Our friend Brittney is getting married in a month. Our circle of friends has been helping her out in almost all the aspects of the wedding. One gets to go with her and her fiancée when they go see the cake artist. One gets to accompany her choosing brides maids gowns. I go with her to help her get the basic furnishings of their soon first home.
The last time we shopped it was for the beddings. I had earlier helped Brittney out with the color scheme of each of the three rooms so now it was time to shop for the sheets. But did she want the 800 thread count sheets or something else? Does she want the one with the comforters or just the sheets? I’m getting enough practice when I myself marry and have my own first home too.
Things to Consider when Buying a Futon
When purchasing a futon, you will have to determine first and foremost the integrity of the frame. If it has a metal frame, the slats should at least be two and a half inches wide. Thinner slats might not be able to provide support for a full size futon mattress. The same should be considered when mulling over futons with wooden slats. In addition, check the kind of wood that is used to make the slats.
The mattress used on a futon is usually not as thick as a regular bed mattress. The futon bed is after all intended only for day use. As futon frames have no specific dimensions, the right size might be a little difficult to find. They will differ in terms of heaviness, firmness and flexibility. Because of this it will be safer to buy a futon mattress from the store rather than just order it to be delivered.
Sleeping Well
I always look forward to a good night’s sleep when I come home from work. I am able to achieve this because of the comforters and bedding sets that my wife meticulously prepares for me. This makes me look forward to going home every day. There are different types of comforters and beddings available in stores and even online through the Internet. You have a variety of choices depending on your needs as well as your budget.
One of the important considerations to think about when buying comforters and beddings would be the thread count. This determines the smoothness and softness of the material being used. The higher the thread count, the softer and smoother the bedding material would be. It also follows that it would be a bit more expensive as well. There are lots of affordable beddings to suit your needs even if your budget is a little bit tight.
Comfort Sheets
There are different types of material used in making bed sheets. One of my favorites would be jersey knit sheets. These sheets are made from 100% combed cotton and would fit any standard sized bed. Jersey knit sheets are one of the softest and most comfortable sheets available in the market today. Some stores even include free shipping within the continental United States.
Most of these jersey knit sheets come in sets. These sets would include 1 fitted sheet, 1 flat sheet and 2 standard sized pillow cases. The fitted sheet is fully elasticized and can accommodate a mattress up to 14″ thick. All of these sheets are made from 100% combed ringspun cotton jersey knit. Care instructions are to machine wash cold, tumble dry low or line dry. You’ll definitely sleep better using Jersey knit sheets.
Fit for a King
For people who enjoy sleeping, there is nothing like a crisp set of sheets. One of the best kind available are 800TC Egyptian cotton sheets. These sheets were designed to guarantee you more than just a good night’s sleep. Before you embark on buying yourself new sheets, it is best to understand what a thread count means to the quality of the sheets. Thread count simply refers to the number of threads, both vertical and horizontal, in a one-inch square of fabric.
Generally, the higher the number of the thread count, the softer and smoother the fabric is. So, it follows that a fabric with a higher thread count is more desirable than a fabric with a lower thread count. It generally also means that it is more expensive to buy fabric with a higher thread count than those with a lower one. Depending on your budget, you can choose a fabric like the 800TC Egyptian cotton sheets and still get the sleep you desire.
Alternative Sheets
There are different types of bed sheets available in the market today. Some are made of cotton while others are even made of satin. But I just discovered a different type of bed sheet that I’m sure you will also love. These are bamboo sheet sets which are made from 60% bamboo and 40% cotton blends, with a 300 thread count. I love using these bamboo sheet sets because they are cooler and drier than cotton.
A major benefit of using bamboo is that it is an earth-friendly fabric. It is woven from a very renewable resource and also fully bio-degradable. For those who perspire a lot specially while sleeping, bamboo sheets are the best to use since the fibers in bamboo soak up moisture up to nine times faster than cotton. And because bamboo is naturally anti-microbial, it kills bacteria and fungus which keeps the sheets odor free between washings. Switch to bamboo sheet sets today and sleep better.
