Comfortable Elegance
A sheet set is a package of coordinated sheets that usually includes a lower fitted sheet, a top flat sheet, and two pillowcases. These bedding sets are packaged for convenience, allowing people to purchase their beddings in a single package, rather than buying them individually. Most of the time, it is also less expensive to buy bedding sets than to buy each item separately. You can purchase your bedding sets at most department stores and you can even order them online through the Internet.
Typically, bedding sets are classified by size, with twin, full, queen, king, and California king being the most common size options. Some of these sets include features like extra-deep fitted sheets for padded mattresses, or unusually large flat sheets to make the sheets lie more securely on the bed. Usually, the outside of the bedding set will include a label with measurements that will allow people to determine if the sheets will fit their specific bed.
Reasons we like Comforters
There is a reason they are called comforters. That is what they do. They provide comfort to their users in times when they need to relax. They provide warmth on chilly nights and a cozy ambience on the bed. We all agree that comforter sets bedding are worth the price we pay for them.
That is not the only reason we like comforters. We also buy them for their beautiful colors and patterns. If there is one thing that will change the look of a bedroom quickly and with the least expense, it is changing the comforter bed cover. You can go from sweet pastels to bold solid designs. That is your personal choice and it is easy with the variety that we find in stores today.
Dealing with Bed Wetting
Bed wetting is a problem that parents often have to deal with. It can be irritating but experts suggest that the best way to manage it is to be supportive. Rather than scold, parents should reassure the child that this is a common problem. This will prevent doing damage to the child’s self image and confidence. With this stance, parents can look forward to resolving the problem in due time.
There are products that help in managing the problem. One is a pad that prevents messing the bed mattress. This is an organic waterpad toddler mattress pad that will fit a standard crib or toddler bed. The top layer is made of soft and breathable 100% organic cotton for baby’s comfort. Middle layer is 100% soft and breathable polyester for absorbency. The bottom layer is waterproof and breathable polyester to protect mattress from soil. Elastic all around secures the pad in position.
Protection for Pillow
The use of pillow cases protects the pillow from stains, sweat and other fluids while asleep. It provides a soft, breathable layer of material for our head and face while sleeping. The standard style is rectangle which envelopes the pillow and has a slit on one end. The envelope style has a panel of fabric that folds under via the backside of the pillow, tucked in out of sight. The buttoned and tied style secures the pillow inside the case to prevent the ends and edges of the flap from fluttering.
It is important to change pillow case often. It is a good way to reduce dust mites and other bacteria. Invest in cases with a high thread count. A higher thread count material can absorb more of the oils and bacteria that we want to avoid. Wash with less detergent and rinse twice.
Good Beddings
Cotton is a most sought after material when it comes to beddings. They are breathable, easy to wash and friendly to the skin. Egyptian cotton is specially durable and luxurious. Organic cotton is safe to use specially in children’s beds. But cotton is not the only fabric that is used for bedding sets. Others are silk and linen.
Just like cotton, silk sheets are extremely breathable and comfortable. It will wick away moisture from the body keeping a person cool and comfortable while he sleeps. It is a good choice in the summer as well as during the cold season. Linen sheets on the other hand have their own distinct advantages. They are warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Linen sheets have high moisture absorbency and they are more durable than cotton.
Top It Off
We all want to buy new things, specially those things that we use everyday like our mattress. But most of the time, our budget just won’t allow it. An economical solution to upgrading your mattress is by purchasing a foam mattress topper. These mattress toppers simply lay on top of your old mattress and immediately increases the quality and comfort of your much deserved sleep. It’s just like having a whole new mattress.
A foam mattress topper is a cushioned pad that sits on top of a foam mattress. It usually comes with straps that are placed around the corners of the bed to minimize slipping and sliding of the pad. A lot of people use a mattress topper to soften up a bed that feels too firm. If you’re already feeling uncomfortable in your bed mattress, but cannot afford a new one, then the most inexpensive way to extend the life of that bed mattress is a foam mattress topper. Try it out and you’ll see exactly what I mean.
Other Uses of Bed Sheets
Bedding sheets are standard home needs. We use them to cover our mattresses. Most homes will normally have different sizes of beddings that will fit different sizes of mattresses. The queen or king-sized bed in the master’s bedroom, twin beds for young children and crib beddings in the baby’s room will all need beddings in specific sizes. Normally we tend to collect more sheets or otherwise, than we need. Stores are always coming out with beautiful colors and patterns that entice us to purchase more.
As bed sheets seem to have an endless life, we should learn to use them for other purposes. My favorite in this regard is the flat sheet. They can be recycled into almost anything. You can use them to cover a table or a couch. You can cut them up and turn them into pillows. I am sure there will be more creative things that you can think of.
The Best Foam
There is a cushion made from compressed polyester, which is reputed to be better than traditional foam. This product is called Nu-Foam padding which has lots of great qualities that makes it far superior than polyurethane foam. It is sometimes also known as densified polyester fibers. It does not disintegrate and it will resist mildew as well. It is mostly used for making baby bumper pads, boat cushions, deck furniture as well as playpen mats.
The Nu-Foam is completely washable and is non-allergenic. It is also flame retardant which makes it great as an alternative work surface. You can definitely use this product in a lot of creative ways. Some people even use this as an alternative to felting foams since it gives them a safe work area as well as a larger one. The Nu-Foam also comes in pre-cut sizes and in rolls, mostly in one and two inch thickness.
Characteristics of Western Bedding
Western style is very distinctive. It manifests itself it furniture, bedding, fabrics and home décor. Western bedding will be characterized by shades of coral, brown and soft blue. They will be soft and heavy duty. Fleece is a popular material in western bedding.
Quilt is another popular material among the cowboys. They are often hand crafted by western women made from prewashed cotton. Modern versions are made with poly fill and are machine washable. They remain true to geometric designs and running horses. Their concessions to vibrant colors are scarlet, sage green and terracotta.
The Need for the Perfect Sleep
With the fast paced lifestyle that we are forced to live, we wish there were more than 24 hours in a day. When we are too busy what suffers most is the number of hours that we sleep. That is not very good, say health experts. We need to give our body rest and allow it to prepare for the next day. It gives the body respite and prepares the brain for a chance to sort things out.
For this reason, we should try to get the perfect sleep as much as possible. This may not always mean long hours; it means a condition that is relaxing to all the faculties of the body even for just a few hours a day. This can be achieved by setting up the perfect environment – a darkened room, quiet surroundings and the right temperature. On cold nights down comforters can provide the warm and cozy feeling needed for a good night’s sleep.
